Earning Wings: Flight 21 – First Cross-Country

For this flight, Brady left Oshkosh and navigated to two other airports for his first cross-country flight. He also called 1-800-WX-brief for the first time for a weather brief — both the night before and again in the morning for an update. He then calculated for wind corrections and studied the sectional charts for landmarks to look for on the way.

Brady never got lost on his flight, but as you’ll see in the video, he did get slightly “misplaced” for a few moments as he was coming into Marshfield.

This is a video series that details Brady Lane’s experience (EAA 808095) and process in learning to fly and earning his sport pilot certificate. These were recorded in 2008 and 2009, but remain relevant today for anyone learning to fly.
