Seth Breyfogle — Private Pilot and Tailwheel Endorsement Milestone

Congratulations to Seth Breyfogle, EAA 1125333, for both passing his private pilot checkride and receiving his tailwheel endorsement this year!

On May 19, 2018, Seth passed his private pilot checkride in a Piper Cherokee and officially became a certificated pilot.

One weekend later, Seth earned another notch on his belt when he graduated from Gilbert High School in Iowa. Still on a roll, Seth went on to get his tailwheel endorsement right away as well, earning it in an Aeronca Champ.

Seth took his first flight with a family friend at 12 years old and a Young Eagles flight at age 15.  He said his early aviation experiences motivated him to want to become a pilot.

“It gave me a new perspective,” he said. “Everything looks different from the air. There’s something about the ground rushing away from you.”

Seth said he is far from done with earning new aviation milestones, and he is set to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy starting this fall, with a major in aeronautical engineering. He said he is focused on pursuing a career as a pilot.

“I’m excited for the future,” Seth said. “There’s a lot of opportunities still ahead of me, and I’m just excited for it.”

Have you reached a milestone recently? Passed a checkride, given your first or hundredth Young Eagle flight, flown your homebuilt for the first time? Tell us about it at editorial@eaa.org.
