H Is For Heirloom

As the final production model of the Mustang, the P-51H is the highest-performing Mustang ever built, though it entered service too late to see combat during World War II. The Coutches’ H-model Mustang has been in the family since the 1960s, when Michael Coutches found and restored the airplane. Today, son Steven and grandson Nicholas are the caretakers and pilots of this remarkable aircraft, which is the only known actively-flying P-51H in the world.
