Two active EAA chapters, Chapter 1093 in Midland, Michigan, and Chapter 975 in Kenai, Alaska, recently awarded scholarships to local student pilots. Chapter 1093 presented their scholarships to Hannah Jackson, Kassie Miller, Kaitlyn Hickey, and Aaron Kischnick, all of whom are learning to fly or currently pursuing advanced ratings. The chapter made their presentation at a pancake breakfast fundraiser that was attended by more than 500 people.
Chapter 975 awarded two $1,000 Robert Bielefeld Take Flight scholarships, one to Jessica Murran and the other to Levi Michael. Both are currently working toward their private pilot certificates, and Levi is planning to become an A&P while Jessica plans on becoming a commercial pilot.
Bielefeld, Chapter 975’s scholarship namesake, was an active pilot in Alaska for more than 50 years, flying supplies and personnel out to the oil fields, as well as providing scenic charters and maintenance services.
