EAA Chapter 1494 held a Young Eagles rally at the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge Airport (KGKT) in Morristown, Tennessee, and it was awesome! The day was full of fun, education, and, of course, Young Eagles soaring with our volunteer pilots.
The day started with a tour of the beautiful FBO. After the tour, the Young Eagles had a hands-on demonstration on how to preflight a Cherokee 180 airplane. Then, it was on to learning about the incredible lifesaving services that UT LIFESTAR helicopters from the University of Tennessee Medical Center provide. Stop number four was a visit to Sevier County Choppers where the Young Eagles were introduced to the world of helicopter training, maintenance, and sightseeing followed by lunch. After all that came time for the Young Eagles to see the amazing colors of the Smokies from the best view ever — the air.
Special thanks to our sponsors Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge Airport, Holston’s Kitchen, Jon’s Golf Cars, and local pilots.
