Gabe White — Solo Milestone

Gabe White — Solo Milestone

Congratulations Gabe White, EAA 1256875, on his first solo flight. Gabe is 16 years old and an active member of EAA Chapter 1522. Gabe has been an aviation enthusiast for as long as he can remember, spending large amounts of time building models and consuming aviation-related books and movies.

Gabe’s solo was on December 17, in a Piper Cherokee, N5556U, rented from his local flying club. He had clear skies and a successful takeoff and landing for a total of three times.

“The weather was near perfect and I was feeling good, but a little tense,” Gabe said. “My instructor took me up for a bit, hopped out then let me fly. When I was getting ready to take off, a bit of traffic showed up, but it was manageable. I took off and landed three times, then got a wave of congratulations.”

His journey to his first take off began at a Young Eagles event, where he had the chance to meet and connect with a pilot who would help him conquer his first solo experience. Gabe said he plans on getting as many certifications and experiences in as many different aircraft as he can.

“I plan on finishing my private, getting my commercial certification, then working as a charter pilot.” Gabe said.
