Every year at AirVenture, we welcome hundreds of warbirds to Oshkosh. From the lightest L-birds and even gliders up to heavy bombers and transports, everybody loves classic military aircraft. The sights, sounds, and smells of the aircraft that have served — or even opposed — our country and our allies are a visceral and tangible tribute to the veterans to whom we owe everything. We all know that nothing brings history to life as well as a warbird. While the majority are powered by piston engines, the world of jet warbirds is vibrant and ever-growing. Here’s a look at several of the types we’ve seen fly at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh over the years.
For more about many of these aircraft, see “Old, Loud, Fast and Proud” in the February 2019 issue of Warbirds magazine.
