By Mathieu Labs, EAA Chapter 931 President/Young Eagles Coordinator
I have a unique story to share about my wife, Lauren Labs, from EAA Chapter 931, who has gone above and beyond in her role as the Ray Scholarship coordinator.
Throughout her life, she harbored a passion for equestrian sports, leading her to Ohio State University where she joined the team. Fast forward nine years, she crossed paths with her husband, a pilot, sparking a transformative journey to empower the upcoming generation. In 2022, she took on the role of Ray Scholarship coordinator after her chapter received the prestigious Ray Aviation Scholarship. Witnessing the struggles of the chapter’s inaugural Ray scholar in preparing for the FAA written exam, she took it upon herself to study and pass the same private pilot written exam in two months. Her dedication bore fruit as the scholar triumphed in the exam.
Building on this success, in 2023, she committed to studying for her Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) certification to further support future youths and scholarship recipients in conquering the FAA written exams. On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, she achieved her AGI certification, filled with enthusiasm to guide the next wave of youths.
I’m very proud of her accomplishment!
