Michigan Students Refurbish Homebuilders Welcome Wagon

A team of students from Northwestern Michigan College recently completed refurbishment of one of the Homebuilders Headquarters Welcome Wagons. The students, enrolled in automotive technology, spent part of the academic year inspecting and upgrading the vehicle, which is one of four Welcome Wagons. Automotive Program Coordinator Wayne Moody, EAA 459389, delivered the Welcome Wagon to the Traverse City campus and oversaw refurbishment efforts. Wayne is a longtime supporter of the Welcome Wagons and was involved in the creation and donation of three wagons to EAA. This is the second Welcome Wagon to be refurbished at the college.

Welcome Wagon Volunteer Chairman Brad Olson commented, “The work that the students performed was comprehensive, helps lower our annual maintenance costs and improve reliability, and gives the students experience with older vehicles.” The Welcome Wagons are in use during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, delivering homebuilt passengers to Camp Scholler, the EAA Aviation Museum, and Red One Markets and throughout the grounds.
