Stanhope Fly-In: Ontario Cottage Country

Stanhope Fly-In: Ontario Cottage Country

I was fortunate enough to catch a ride from Orillia-Rama Regional Airport (CNJ4) in an amphib when Mike Wiebe gracefully took me and demonstrated his expertise landing on the lake where my friend, Doug Martin, has his cottage.

The fly-in at Stanhope was the next day and just a couple miles from the cottage that Doug and his wife Carrie enjoy as much as they can during the summer. I had signed up to be an airside volunteer, mainly parking aircraft so that the experts could do more important tasks like radio communication with the pilots arriving and departing. There were 50-60 aircraft that had arrived, so it was quite a busy morning, but in the early afternoon they began leaving in droves.
