What a month it has been! Lola Waldrep, EAA 1399617, earned her private pilot certificate on June 17, spent the next few days completing the training for her remote pilot certificate, then flew her first Young Eagles mission on June 29.
“I haven’t always wanted to be a pilot, I only realized it was something I could actually do after my first Young Eagles flight. I am eternally grateful for all the support I have received. I would like to thank the EAA, and the donors for the scholarships I received: The Ray Aviation Scholarship and The Stephen ‘Ben’ Haas Memorial Scholarship,” said Lola.
As busy as she’s been, she still made time to work the registration desk at our chapter Young Eagles rally/pancake breakfast on June 28. She’s volunteered at Young Eagles rallies for nearly three years and served as coordinator since the summer of 2024. In these roles, she’s supported 409 Young Eagles missions.
She’ll begin studies in biological & agricultural technology management at Auburn University in August, yet still plans to participate in chapter activities as her school workload permits. When asked about her future plans, she said “I plan to save up and become a Lifetime member so I can show my support and gratitude to the EAA organization. I hope to give other people the same amazing opportunities I received and to introduce flight to as many people as possible”
