Barney Dunlevy Gone West

Barney Dunlevy Gone West

By Mike Davenport

Barney Dunlevy passed away earlier this year after a long illness that had increasingly affected both his mobility and eyesight. However, this had no effect on either his sense of humour or his memory.

Barney had a long career focused on military and civil aviation and counted among his friends were members of many aviation groups.

A memorial in his honour was held at the Langley airport late in May and was a “sell out” with every seat taken, leaving standing room only.

On July 13, four of Barney’s friends flew a missing man flypast at Delta Heritage Airpark in his honour. Coincidentally, the airpark is located just west of the Boundary Bay Airport where he had worked for some time as an air traffic controller.
