In building experimental aircraft, there’s always one or two wires that have to depart from the harness and go across the panel or firewall by themselves. Plastic or metal clamps are usually too bulky, unsightly, and end up not really holding the wire where you want it to stay. I found a solution using heat shrink tubing.
Normally, heat shrink tubing is pretty strong; after heat shrinking it’s even stronger. Punch holes through each end of a short length of tubing, fold it over, place a bolt and nut through the holes, and heat it up.
You can make tiny clamps, big clamps, colored clamps, and clear clamps. The clamps are obviously fireproof and can withstand a high level of heat.
