On August 16, EAA Chapter 63’s AeroEducate Director Eds Mondares organized a very successful Build and Fly day for Winnipeg Chapter 63. We are fortunate to have our own hangar to do this in and perfect weather for the day.
Our project was a control line flying wing designed by members of the Golden Circle U control club, specifically for our prairie winds. It has no vertical surface area and no rudder to help it ride effortlessly through crosswinds. To maintain tension in the control lines, the design uses about 20 degrees of motor offset.

For this initial effort we had five youngsters, and all of them finished and flew their model, while learning something about flight control. They all had a very positive attitude, patience, and a passion for aviation… all the attributes that let us know the future will be in good hands!
