Private Pilot Milestone: Ray Scholar Greyson Young

Private Pilot Milestone: Ray Scholar Greyson Young

By Gary Brossett, EAA Chapter 677 President

Ray scholar Greyson Young, EAA 1579881, earned his private pilot certificate on November 23, 2025. He was introduced to the Chattahoochee Valley EAA Chapter 677 in February 2024 as a Young Eagle when he flew with past President Ernie Kelly, EAA 1021470. Imagine our surprise when we discovered that he had started flight lessons at age 14 and had already completed the King’s Private Pilot Ground School course. Seems he knew at an early age that he belongs in the air.

Since he was young, Greyson has been captivated by aviation.

Soon after his Young Eagles flight, he got to work on the Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course and then completed a discovery flight with chapter CFI Matthew Bourguignon, EAA 1459525. He’s flown a few lessons with chapter members, logging training in airplanes, gliders, and hot air balloons.

Greyson is a regular volunteer at chapter Young Eagles rallies, logging 20 hours of volunteer time on our flightline safety crew this year. He also participates in the Civil Air Patrol, where he’s earned the rank of Cadet Staff Sergeant.
