By Joel Kersting, EAA 882109, EAA Chapter 412
Holly Sylvester, EAA 1579274, is EAA Chapter 412’s 2025 Ray scholar. Holly had started her flight training before being awarded a $1,000 chapter scholarship in 2024, and then last February she was awarded the Ray Aviation Scholarship. This has been a long, not always smooth, venture for her. Holly would say she seems to attract inclement weather. She and her family have contributed financially to the cause in excess of the scholarships. Still, she is determined to pass her private checkride soon.
Holly says her EAA chapter has been super supportive, and Chapter 412 is super excited for her to complete her checkride. We are proud of her never-give-up attitude, and we are planning to celebrate big time when the time comes. Holly says she plans to use the knowledge she has gained through this venture when she attends college next year.

Here, Holly is modeling her Lightspeed headset. She is extremely grateful to Lightspeed for donating the headset and is looking forward to using it as a certified private pilot.
EAA is grateful for Lightspeed’s support of our Ray scholars. Since the launch of the Ray Aviation Scholarship in 2019, the Lightspeed Aviation Foundation has donated Zulu 3 headsets to EAA Ray Aviation scholars to help support their flight training and produce the next generation of pilots.
