Logan Yoon — Solo Milestone

Logan Yoon — Solo Milestone

Logan Yoon, EAA 1282188, remembers the very first time he ever stepped onto an airplane. He was 8 years old when he and his dad decided to hop on a flight to New York for the Jimmy V Classic, an annual college basketball charity event. Ever since that moment, Logan was in love with aviation. He has since gone on to successfully complete his first solo flight on October 10, and plans on completing his checkride on his 17th birthday in June.

Logan and his family attended EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2018. They stayed the entire week and camped. It was during those action-packed seven days that he was really motivated to tackle his first solo flight.

Logan’s solo was in a Cessna 172 in Springfield, Tennessee and he said the conditions could not have been any better.

“Not a cloud in the sky with no wind at all,” Logan said. “I was relieved to get my first solo flight completed after weeks of delays due to weather and aircraft maintenance.”

Logan’s goal is to fly into AirVenture this year. He is currently a sophomore in high school, and his long-term goal after graduation is to attend Middle Tennessee State University for the aerospace-professional pilot program.

“This is a career that I take seriously and that drove me to start training as early as possible,” Logan said. “Being able to fly anywhere I want once I get my PPL is a nice benefit as well.”
