EAA’s Attic — Flight Service Station Communications Console

EAA’s Attic — Flight Service Station Communications Console

This piece originally ran in the January 2021 issue of EAA Sport Aviation magazine.

This vintage communications console was used by the Flight Service Station (FSS) at the Tri-County Regional Airport (KLNR) in Lone Rock, Wisconsin. While the console dates from much later, it was housed in a building that was originally built in Mauston, Wisconsin, but was moved to Lone Rock in 1928. After the FSS was shut down, the building and its contents were moved to Oshkosh in 1985, where they are now on display at Pioneer Airport as part of the EAA Aviation Museum.
