Milestone — Becoming a Young Eagles Pilot

Milestone — Becoming a Young Eagles Pilot

Joshua Owsley, EAA 1283936, recently participated in his first Young Eagles rally, flying six kids on Saturday, February 26.

Josh, a Ray scholar from EAA Chapter 677, passed his checkride on October 2 and has long been looking forward to the day he would be able to inspire the next generation himself.

“My dad told me about the Young Eagles rally and I thought it was really cool and something I would like to participate in,” Josh said. “It is a great feeling to inspire the next generation of aviators. I think everyone should get to have that experience at some point in their life. And experiencing it at a young age is awesome.”

Josh said it was a fantastic experience for him, and his Young Eagles had a lot of fun flying with him.

“It was fun seeing all the kids looking out the window and smiling but my favorite part was on my first flight,” Josh said. “We have two identical checklists in the airplane and the boy sitting next to me grabbed the other one and was following along as I went through my checklist.”

Congratulations on another exciting milestone in your aviation journey, Josh!
